On the 3rd of April, Nicola Formichetti debuted Diesel's Fall/Winter 2014/5 collection. His first collection for the brand since he became Creative Director. He payed homage to the Diesel brand with denim cut-outs, leather and military looks.
"I just think I get really inspired by people, cool people, and I just like to mimic them."
"So we had the new wave kids, the early Nineties, the sexy kids with the tattoos and we had the posh kids - all the different types. You saw all of those different coloured skins and hair colours; tall, short, curvy - and it was great because when you go outside that's how everyone is, it's global what we live in so I just wanted to push it.

The entire collection was incredible. I would wear every single one of the menswear looks. It's as if the collection was made for me - no really. I remember getting my first pair of Diesel Jeans when I was 9. They were washed denim that had been destressed. I've always been a fan of the brand. I am a leather, denim, military kind of guy at heart and always try and incorporate some sort of "punk" vibe into my look, especially in Winter. It's always just been a freedom of expression for me so I was really drawn to this collection. All the models from the show were casted via Tumblr - the whole show/campaign was focussed around inclusiveness.
"There's no difference between the digital and physical world for these kids. "They're a new species, indigo children. I find them through Tumblr. They're everywhere, but they don't know about each other till I connect them. That's what I am, connector." - Formichetti, via style.com
Nicola chose his muse, Brooke Candy to close the show with her latest single "Opulence," who truly embodies the brand and it's rebellious side.
"I love her. I predict she's going to be huge, so amazing, so cool. I feel that excitement when I first met Gaga, she has that possibility and this excitement with what you can do with her and where she can go. I don't think they're similar but you know they have that energy - uber humans, aliens,"- Formichetti, via vogue.co.uk

He also collaborated with genius fashion film director Nick Knight who created four interlude films for the show. The first film being an introductory, the second introduces the leather section, the third features denim and the penultimate section which consists of military looks. With a finale that was inspired by the Pussy Riot.
